So you think you don’t need a wedding planner?

… think again. No, again. 🙂  Here are 5 reasons why you should reconsider your position.

1. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event, it’s not a sin to be a perfectionist for this. A wedding planner has the complete checklist of items that need to be prepared and tasks to be done for your big day and trust me, it’s quite a longer list than what you are expecting. It may look easy but there’s a good reason why most popular coordinators in the business charge an obscene amount for their services. Managing the wedding day to ensure everything goes perfectly is no joke. There’s no take two. There’s no undo button for any blunder that might occur.

2. A wedding planner can refer you to trusted suppliers and help you avoid the ones with mangled reputations in the industry. It is a major plus if your wedding planner has already worked with your suppliers. This will give both sides an easier and familiar sense of working method thereby making your event go more smoothly from beginning until the end.

3. Sure, you have relatives and friends who are keen to help you out and even claim to be talented in handling events. 90% of the time, however, these trusted people who have their designated tasks will prefer enjoying your big day and mingling with other guests who they probably know as well. Wouldn’t it be great if all your friends/relatives can relax and celebrate this day with you instead of them running errands, going to and fro, and getting harassed by other suppliers with questions on how to run things? It would be sad if they just waste their special outfits for that day only to do such things. Hiring a professional wedding coordinator will ensure accountability. Unlike relatives and friends, a wedding coordinator has a reputation to uphold and will provide a team of assistants, each of whom also has their designated tasks to guarantee that the client and their guests get satisfied.

4. Your budget should not restrict you from getting a good coordinator. Not all competent wedding planners cost a fortune. It’s better to allot a budget for a professional event handler to ensure that everyone will stick to the schedule which tends to cause unnecessary extra charges from suppliers (ex. venue and bridal car) when not followed. Failure to adhere to the day’s itinerary is also equivalent to failing to make the most out of what you paid for the photographers since the supposed time for the bridal party’s shots to be taken will surely be shortened if you’re already cramming to get to the ceremony. Some churches even cut the post-ceremony pictorial time if the bridal march doesn’t start on time. A wedding coordinator will also ensure that all the arrangements you made with other suppliers are indeed delivered that day, thus giving you the worth of every single cent you spent for them.

5. You may be very hands-on throughout the preparation stage and you also want this phase to be a bonding period with your husband/wife-to-be. Clearly, you do not need a full wedding planning assistance from a professional. However, would you risk having everything you planned for go to waste because they were not executed properly on the day itself? I, who have already handled several weddings in the past, would even hire a separate wedding coordinator on my own big day to make sure everything goes the way I envisioned it to. That’s how certain I want to be. My professional advice if you want to avoid horrific wedding memories which some brides still cry about years after they experienced them? DO NOT RISK IT. Hire a reputable wedding coordinator now.
